PHP Program Director

Maureen Leupold

Maureen began her career at BHA as a group teacher at Packer Ridge Academy. She promoted a positive, therapeutic environment for students to express themselves while working on their social emotional health. Maureen was then advanced to the position of Student Service Coordinator while working at Packer Ridge Academy. She maintained this position after being transitioned to the PRIDE Program, and more recently the Partial Hospitalization and Journey Programs. As a Student Service Coordinator, Maureen actively researched and coordinated services to improve student’s quality of life, such as brightening their smiles with the St. Luke’s Dental Van services.

During the summer of 2021, Maureen was promoted to director of the Partial Hospitalization and Journey Programs. Her role as director of these programs is to provide guidance, support, and to foster a safe and healing atmosphere for students to thrive emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Maureen and her dedicated program staff are determined to assist students struggling with manifestations of their mental health by providing them with a solid foundation of strategies and techniques related to their individual mental health needs.

Maureen graduated summa cum laude earning a bachelor’s degree in English and Education from Cedar Crest College, and earned an associate’s degree in social science from Lehigh Carbon Community College. Maureen is currently working toward achievement of a master’s degree in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis from Penn State University. Prior to her employment at BHA, Maureen worked primarily in the field of mental health as a Targeted Case Manager at CMP Mental Health and Developmental Services for approximately 10 years. She also held employment as a supervisor of an aftercare program for juveniles on probation through Youth Services Agency, a rehabilitation specialist for children in foster care through Pa Mentor, and a supervisor of an independent living program for adolescent and teenaged girls.

“I enjoy working with the dedicated, loyal, and overall exceptional staff at BHA. Their readiness and motivation to dive into each day with a positive mindset and desire to assist our students is inspiring. A familial feel permeates throughout the staff members within our programs.”
