“I enjoy working at BHA because they treat you like a family. All the staff at BHA believes we could make a difference in a child’s life. It is very rewarding when we see the progress a student makes because of our help.”

Steve began working at BHA and started the Career Employment Program in 2010. The program provides students the tools and opportunities to reach their potential in the work environment. Steve and the Career Employment staff strive to serve the students academically and socially while providing the best educational and employment opportunities that will meet their needs. Career Employment staff members work with students from all Carbon County school districts along with students at the different BHA schools. The program currently employs a lead job coach and an assistant lead job coach and has 22 other job coaches that work with the students. There is also a Career Employment class that provides the students with the soft skills needed to be successful in the workforce. The Career Employment Program currently has 70 worksites to place students. They have placed students in jobs at these work sites for summer employment, after school employment, and permanent employment after graduation.

Steve’s goal is to help students with the tools and skills necessary to be successful in the future by helping improve their self-esteem and their work ethic. The program gives the students an opportunity to learn and grow in a safe, caring environment with trained professionals who have the students’ best interests at heart.

Steve graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice. He previously worked at Luzerne County Workforce Investment Agency from 1985-2010 where he served as the Welfare Program Manager and the E.O Officer.
